2023 Circular Taiwan Network Wrapped

In 2023, the Circular Taiwan Network focused on various topics, with particular emphasis on three themes: #CircularConstruction, #CircularTextiles, and #CircularProcurement. We collaborated with relevant government departments, industry associations, and corporate partners to promote more practices of circular economy through forums, workshops, site visits, and handbook publications.

The Circular Taiwan Network website has become an important platform for searching for information on the circular economy in Taiwan, with a total of 4345 hours spent on it. In 2023, discussions about "circular economy" always revolved around three key sets of keywords: #SustainableDevelopment, #NetZeroEmissions, and #CircularEconomyCases. Visitors are welcomed to our website to see the relevance between the circular economy.

In 2023, we participated in 30 speeches, including important events such as the "2023 Resource Circulation International Conference" in Taiwan and the "International Circular Economy Conference" in Germany. Among the selections for the annual album, none stands out more than "Circular Textiles: Reshaping the industry’s future".


The government has set a target of building 200,000 units of social housing in eight years, which serves as an excellent opportunity to promote circular construction and create ideal environments for circular living. In the coming years, the government will invest billions of dollars to construct tens of thousands of units of social housing. Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior, Jingqun Hua, stated that social housing will become the vanguard for the large-scale adoption of circular economy practices in the construction industry. It will also drive industry upgrades and create homes of tomorrow.


Taiwan's textile industry holds a leading position globally in functional fabrics, showcasing the strength of "Made in Taiwan." Leveraging expertise in material technology and the comprehensive textile value chain, Taiwan has designed a regenerative and circular closed-loop system, paving the way for "Made in Taiwan" to transition towards "Circulate in Taiwan."

The handbook "Circular Textiles: Reshaping the industry’s future" is jointly published by the Circular Taiwan Network, Textile Industry Research Institute, and the Taiwan Technical Textile Association.


Government and corporate procurement play a crucial role in driving the circular economy market, particularly with the government's annual procurement budget exceeding three trillion dollars. Since the Circular Taiwan Network initiated the advocacy for circular procurement in 2018, significant progress has been made, gradually bearing fruit.
